Abysmal weather conditions at Mill Lane meant that Derbyshire Community Football Club's game against Fatball Derby was postponed to a later date.
However, within the same day, behind the scenes, Community had managed to re-schedule the fixture and bring in new opposition. With Clay Cross Town welcoming the fixture a week later, JE United stepped in as the opposition in what would turn into an entertaining ninety minutes of football.
Despite damp conditions, the game went ahead this time around and the playing surface would allow for attractive, possession-based football.Community welcomed back captain, Alex Godber, and winger, Joe Raine-Ellerker amongst others and it didn't take long for the two to combine for the games opening goal.
Godber's in-swinging corner inside the opening two minutes found an un-marked Raine-Ellerker at the back post, who's bullet header gave the hosts the lead. After gaining the goal advantage, they didn't look back, growing in confidence as the game progressed, efforts from Mujib Saadat and Tyler Farnsworth forced Joel, the United keeper, into an array of saves.
The lead lasted until just after the first water-break of the game, a lofted ball over the top found Nathan, who's effort on the bounce went across the face of goal into the top corner as a goal of the season contender. The relentless pressure was re-applied by Community again immediately after the kick-off and just before half-time, Saadat humbled an otherwise impressive display by United's goalkeeper with a composed finish into the bottom corner.
As they went into the break ahead, Community made minimal changes in a hope to continue the build on momentum they had worked hard to create. Farnsworth, Raine-Ellerker and striker, Ben Dawson, all with efforts turned behind by Joel who had put in strong contention for a player of the match award.
United then started attacks of their own, starting to pile pressure on the host's back-line consistently for the first time in the game, but last ditch tackles by Adam Marsden and the debuting Lee Butler matched with a wave of saves for Kris Marina kept their side ahead. With mere minutes left in the game and the pressure being firmly applied, it was Community who got the fourth goal of the game that had eluded both sides until two minutes from time.
Oli Townsend's cross into the box was almost led to an own-goal, but Dawson poached on the chance to get his name on the scoresheet to see the game beyond doubt.
Ultimately, a display that was worthy of a victory for Community and after the match, describing his sides domination, Kemp said; "You have to give credit to their goalkeeper, both our strikers Muj and Skin have scored today so that will be a confidence boost for them and hopefully will be a little bit more clinical moving forward".
