Lees Lane, home of South Normanton FC, played host to spectacle between Derbyshire Community Football Club and Darley Abbey FC as the two sides met for the first time in a bid to end a poor run of form.
Both sides had made multiple changes heading into the game and it was Community who struck first with just four minutes on the clock. Stephen King's perfectly weighted pass was placed into the roof of the goal from 10-yards out by Oli Townsend.
Townsend was then on the delivering end, his bursting run down the left hand resulting in a ball across the middle to Joseph Greaves, who's drilled effort across the face of goal was just out of reach of Daley Abbey's goalkeeper and into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
Community started to push, but Darley Abbey stood firm and had the better of the chances to the end of the first half. An over-load in midfield gifted multiple of opportunities to get on the scoresheet, but to no avail and the score-line remained 2-0 at the break.
The momentum gained to end the first half was carried with force into the second for Darley Abbey and ten minutes into the restart, they thought they'd found a breakthrough, Kyle Ali's chipped effort found the back of the net, only to be ruled out for offside.
Despite being on the back foot for the majority of the second half, it was Community that got the next goal. A carbon-copy of the first goal of the game, King providing the ball across the face of the goal, Townsend finishing off the move.
Just two-minutes later, King's hard work paid off. He broke free from his marker down the right hand side and slotted the ball home to make it four heading into the final ten minutes of the game.
It was then time for the fairy tale ending to what would turn out to be his final game before taking to the dugout full-time. A long ball over the top found Tom Kemp one-on-one with the goalkeeper, placing the ball calmy past the goalkeeper as he rolled back the years and got himself on the scoresheet one, last, time.
But it wasn't over there, valiant defending and inspired goalkeeping kept any chances of a Darley Abbey goal limited, King would then go on to get his second goal of the game, an excellent first touch was met with an equally impressive finish to round off the scoring at 6-0.
